Sample Artist’s Statement

My name is Robin Savage, and I am a local fine artist who works in the mixed media field - often using my recycled materials and found objects in my art. I’ve enjoyed drawing since I was able to hold a pencil. My mother has cookbooks from when I was a toddler that I drew in (pictures of the recipes she was making). I attended art school in 1996, where I studied under John Link, focusing on portraiture and illustration. However, my passion for collage came to me after art school, once I began to show an interest in politics. At that point, my art switched from realistic to abstract assemblage (collage). The collection of art in this show is a response to love lost and the struggle to find self and truth. I’ve names this collection How Does Your Garden Grow? After taking a hard, long look at my redefined life as a single woman, I rose from the ashes of divorce and found true love and true worth in myself.
